In this month’s family activity, the school families discussed Lent since we have now entered the Lenten season. All the families discussed what Lent means and what we should do during Lent. Students learned that we need to change ourselves in order to become better people. The families discussed the 3 (

, pray, and alms giving) things the church asks us to do to be better followers of Christ. After the families watched a video called The Very Hungry Caterpillar (which is based off the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle), which was about a caterpillar who eventually turns into a beautiful butterfly. Students learned that they should be like the caterpillar and change into the best version of themselves during the season of Lent. Each student in the family then received a circle in which they wrote about how they would fast, pray, and give. Then the circles were glued or taped to create a caterpillar. The family activity ended with a prayer to help us during our Lenten journey. The caterpillars will be hung up in the school for all to see and to remember this Lenten family activity.
