Last month, the Learning Commons got an awesome new device. The Learning Commons received a 3-D printer that had been donated to the school. So far the Learning Commons has produced a keychain, a tape dispenser, and a mini wand. The 3-D printer will be used for student projects, like the 8th grade Capstone Project, which is a research project that the 8th graders do and present their research at the end of the school year. The 3-D printer is also currently being used for a 6th grade project. The 6th graders have to design and create a mascot for the Learning Commons using the 3-D printer. The 6th graders were split into groups and so far one group has created a chicken, a chicken coop, and an egg for their project. 5th Graders are also learning how to use a program called Tinkercad, which is the program that is used to create the models. This is a great addition to the school and students and teachers look forward to creating more fun stuff using the 3-D printer!
