On September 30, St. Philip the Apostle Parish hosted its first Chili Cookoff. The event took place between the Church and Holy Angel Hall. Participants created homemade chilis and brought them for judges to taste. The judges were Fr. Joe, Fr. Alfredo, and Mr. Weyermuller. There were 25 chilis in total! There were also many school families and parishioners at the cookoff to eat the delicious chilis. The judges tasted each chili and picked their favorites, but guests were also able to vote for their favorite chili. At the end of the Chili Cookoff, the three winners were announced. The winners were given baskets filled with gifts. The third place winner was made by Mrs. Ann Kennedy, mom of Cameron Kennedy. The second place winner was Mrs. Gina Cockriel, mom of Eleanor and Caroline Cockriel! The winner of the First place chili was named…..drumroll please…..  “Rose Bowl Chili” made by Andrew Paulus! Andrew is a third grader at our school!  Congratulations Andrew and all the winners!!! Congratulations to all the amazing chilis entered into the 2017 Chili Cookoff!
