The girls volleyball and boys flag football teams had amazing seasons this year. They worked very hard and went very far in CYO playoffs.

The girls varsity volleyball team had an incredible season. They finished 7-2 in their regular season and they advanced into playoffs. The girls were placed in the gold division of playoffs, which is the second highest division in CYO. In the first round of the playoffs, they played OL Talpa and won 2 sets to none. Then, they advanced into the second round of the playoffs and played St. Monica Academy, and again won the match 2 sets to none. They were then in the semi-finals and played St. Charles of Borromeo, and won 2 sets to 1. They were now in the finals of CYO competing for first place. In the championship match, they played St. Martin of Tours. The girls worked very hard, but they unfortunately lost the game against St. Martin of Tours. Overall, the team took second place in their division. The varsity team has gone the farthest a St. Philip’s volleyball team has gone in CYO playoffs in years.

The boy’s flag football also had an incredible season this year. The boys finished undefeated in their regular season and advanced into the playoffs. The boys were placed in the open division of playoffs, which is the highest division in CYO. In their first round of playoffs, they played Corpus Christi and won 35-16. In the second round of the playoffs, the football team played St. Louise and won 12-10. In the semi-finals, they played St. Anastasia and won 12-0. They were now in the finals of CYO competing for first place. In the championship match, the boys played American Martyrs. The football team had an amazing game and won the game 16-9. Overall, the boys took first place in the highest bracket in CYO. The boys had a great season and represented St. Philip to the highest extent. I would also like to add that until now, St. Philip’s has not beaten American Martyrs in over five years.

Both the girls volleyball and boys flag football teams have had great seasons and should be proud of their accomplishments.
