Teacher of the Month: Coach Weatherall

Teacher of the Month: Coach Weatherall

Teacher of the month for December 2017 is Mr. Weatherall. He is the physical education teacher. This is his first year teaching at St. Philip, before he coached the St. Francis High School basketball team. In physical education, or P.E., Couch Weatherall teaches the students about the importance of taking care of the body before and after completing a sport or exercise. For example, he taught 8A about how important staying hydrated is during a hot day and the body signs that tells someone that they are dehydrated. The students start out class by stretching and after they warm up. Later, the students exercise and run a couple laps around the gym. At least once a week the students are planned to go to Grand Park where they exercise and play activities, such as kick ball.

He is from South Central Los Angeles and decided to come to St. Philips because he thought the school was special. He thinks that the students are respectful towards others and are kind. He has two sisters and has one brother and is the oldest in his family. Coach Weatherall has been married for a year and has two parrots as pets. His birthday is February 13th and his favorite sport is basketball. He got his inspiration of teaching by all the people who pushed him to succeed and thrive, and wanted to do the same for our school.

Coach Weatherall is funny and during class is always interacting with the students. He is always making sure that the students are participating in his class. Don’t forget to check the next teacher of the month in January!
