In the past month the state of California has been victim to 7 fires. The name on the fires are Thomas, Creek, Rye, Little Mountain, Skirball, Lilac, Riverside, and Range 219. Most of the fires are contained but the Thomas fire in Ventura and the Creek fire in Los Angeles are still burning. As of December 18th, the Thomas fire that burned 270,000 acres of land is 45% contained, and the Creek fire that burned 15,619 acres is 98% contained. These two fires began on December 4th and 5th. Many homes were destroyed and many families were forced to evacuate. There were many fires this month but they were contained.
