Each class at Saint Philip is responsible for completing a Christian Service Project each year, where they must do something that will benefit the community and others around them. The third graders at Saint Philip are currently starting their projects. This year the students are hosting a school-wide drive, to collect ground coffee and socks for Union Station Homeless Shelter. Union Station is a homeless shelter located in Pasadena, and Saint Philip students have become very involved in helping the homeless people in these shelters. Throughout the year the weather can be either cold or warm, and this time of year the weather is colder than usual. For this reason, the number one request from Union Station is that socks and coffee are donated to help keep the residents warm during the cold winter. The socks can be in both children and adult sizes because Union Station has both a family center and an adult center. The third graders will visit Union Station on both March 27th and 28th to deliver all of the donations received for the homeless. If you are interested in donating, there will be bins in all of the classrooms over the next week, so feel free to donate some socks and coffee for the homeless.
