The Spring Concert is coming up and is always enjoyed by the entire Saint Philip school community. Mrs. Homan, the music teacher, has been working very hard over the past few months in preparation for the big night. In case you don’t know the Spring Concert takes place on a Friday evening at the school, on the blacktop outside, and each class sings a song, they have been preparing. The 8th graders, however, do not sing a sing, instead they dance the salsa. This year the Spring Concert will take place on Friday, May 18th, and the theme this year is spiritual songs. Kindergarten will be singing, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”. First grade will be singing, “Dry Bones”. Second grade will be singing, “This Train”. Third grade will be singing, “Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho”. Fourth grade will be singing, “Good News”. Lastly, fifth grade will be singing, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”. Mrs. Homan is even adding a song for 3rd, 4th, and 5th to sing together and this song is called, “Shine on Me”. Something that is nice about the Spring Concert is the fact that songs are rarely repeated among grades, so each class sings their own song, every year. That is a nice way to make a class feel special, and it is nice for the audience not having to hear the same songs every single year. I highly suggest coming to the Spring Concert to see the wonderful singers, who have been preparing for the past few months to impress the audience.
