Over the past few weekends, the second-grade students have been receiving their First Communions. Each student’s family is given the choice of what weekend they would like to have their child make their First Communion. There were First Communion Masses held on May 5,6,12 and 13th. There is one more weekend where the remaining students will be able to make their First Communion. This is very exciting for the students, considering they are making one of their major Sacraments. During each Mass that is said by Father Joe for the First Communion masses, he does something very unique. He always displays a photo of himself when he made his First Communion and talks about his experience and the importance of making your First Communion in his homily. Lilah Ferrer and Chase Openborn in 2A both recently received their First Communion this past weekend. Chase said that he was very nervous approaching the big day, but now that it is complete he now feels closer to God. He also said that now that he has received his First Communion he may make better decisions in the future and that completing this Sacrament will improve his life. Lilah said that approaching her First Communion, she was nervous but at the same time very excited, and she also understands the importance of having a close relationship with God and that now she feels that she is a better person who is closer to God. Please continue to keep the remaining students in your prayers, as they receive their First Communion the weekend of the 19th.
