MLB Pennant Race

The Final part of the MLB Baseball season is coming to an end which means for competing teams the race for a postseason spot is on. For those of you who are not aware, “the MLB pennant race is when teams in a division race to get to first place. The two teams that do not get into first place but have the best records then play in a one-game playoff called the wild card game. The winner of the wild-card game will then go on to play in the division series against the team that has the best record in their league. In the American League, “the division leaders are the Cleveland Indians with a current record of 73-57, the Boston Red Socks with a current record of 90-39, and the Houston Astros who have a current record of 77-50. The Houston Astros now only have a 1 game lead on the Oakland Athletics for first place in the American League West. In the American League Central, the Indians have a 12 1/2 game lead on the Minnesota Twins for first place. In the American league, East the Red Socks have a 9.5 game lead on the New York Yankees. In the National League West, the Arizona Diamondbacks have a 1.0 game lead on the Colorado Rockies for and a 4.5 game lead on the Dodgers. In the National League Central, the Chicago Cubs have a 3 game lead on the St. Louis Cardinals. In the National League East, the Atlanta Braves have a 3 game lead on the Philadelphia Phillies. The Pennant race is always fun to pay attention to and it will be interesting to see what happens in the final part of the season”
