Meet the New Teachers!

This year at St.Philips, we welcome 4 new teachers! First, we have two new teachers teaching the TK students! The first TK teacher is Mrs. Almquist. Mrs.Almquist last taught at All Souls School in Alhambra and she has taught 1st graders, kindergarteners, and TK. This year will be her 14th year teaching! An interesting fact about Mrs. Almquist is that before becoming a teacher she was a graphic designer for the LA Opinion Newspaper. The second TK teacher is Mrs. Rittichier. Mrs. Rittichier will be teaching TKB. Mrs.Rittichier started teaching 35 years ago! She has taught students with special needs, kinder, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade!  The next new teacher is Mrs. Najar, she will be teaching KA! This year she will be celebrating her 10th year of teaching, and all of those 10 years she has been teaching kindergarten! Lastly, we welcome the new 1st-grade teacher, Mrs. Khalaf. Mrs.Khalaf will be teaching 1A and has been a substitute teacher for all grades at St.Philips for about 5 years! She has a son, Callahan,  in 2nd grade also at St.Philips.

Here is one question I asked each teacher that I got the chance to interview: “Where did you teach before coming to St.Philip if you previously taught?”

Mrs. Rittichier: “ I taught at St.Ferdinand School teaching kindergarten for 2 years.”

Mrs.Najar: “ At the Gooden School in Sierra Madre also teaching kindergarten.”

Mrs.Khalaf: “ I have always taught at St.Philips and last year taught 4th grade.”

We are very excited to welcome all of these wonderful teachers and can’t wait for future years with them!
