Second Grade: What is it Like?

Hi Falcons! Recently, there has been a lot of Kindergarten-TK excitement because of all of the new youngsters, but what’s going on in second grade?

Second grade is an important year for young Catholic children. This is because they get to ultimately understand their faith and have some responsibility when it comes to receiving the Eucharist. They also get to go to Reconciliation for the first time, as well as getting to be part of a wonderful retreat in May.

Last week, I interviewed some second graders about what second grade is like.

Meet Jackson. He is in 2B. He’s 8 years old and loves second grade so far. He says that in second grade, you do a lot of rotations and that he’s really excited about Making his First Communion because he wants to learn more about God.

Meet Elise. She is also in Ms. Garnett’s class and is 7 years old. She loves to read, since in second grade “you get to read a lot”, she says. She is also eager to make her First Communion.

Meet John. He is in 2B as well and is also 7 years old. He is most excited about possibly learning division this year! He says that he gets to learn math almost every day.

So there you have it! Three second-graders and lots of information on what’s going on in second grade.
