One of my favorite recipes is an amazing berry galette. A galette is a freeform pie with an open face. This is a very quick and easy recipe to make. There are very few ingredients that this recipe needs and they are all easy to find. There are a lot of different fruit combinations that you can try out but this one is my favorite.
Berry Galette Recipe
2 cups blackberries
1 cup strawberries
1 cup raspberries
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Store-bought pie crust
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Take out your pie crust from the fridge and let it warm up for about 30 minutes.
Unroll your pie crust and set it on the baking sheet. It should be in the shape of a circle.
You then wash your 4 cups of mixed berries and dry them off.
Grab a large bowl and add your berries into the bowl.
To the bowl, you are going to add 2 tablespoons of white sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Mix all the sugar and vanilla extract in carefully so that you do not crush the berries.
Once you have fully incorporated the sugar and vanilla, pour the berries into a strainer to get out the extra water and vanilla.
Put the berries back in the bowl and then scoop them out into the center of the pie crust.
You may not need to use all the berries but you will definitely use most of them.
After they are all in the center of the pie take one side of the pie crust and fold it into the berries.
Then you repeat with the side next to it and making sure that the crust overlaps with the previous piece of crust put down.
Follow these steps until the all the crust is folded into the center.
Put the galette into the preheated oven. You might want to get an adult to help to put it in.
The galette will stay in the oven for 25-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
Take out your galette and let it cool. It is ok if some of the juice came out from the galette.
Once it is cool your galette is ready to enjoy!
