“The Girl Who Could Fly” is a fantasy novel by Victoria Forester. Piper McCloud has a very special ability. She can fly! When she was a baby, Piper would unexpectedly rise off the floor and float. Her parents didn’t want anyone to find out about her flying ability, and didn’t let Piper see anyone. She longed to meet other children and to be able to fly freely.
One day, Piper’s parents let her go to a picnic to socialize. Piper catches a fly ball and reveals she can fly. Suddenly, her house is filled with reporters and paparazzi. Piper is saved by Dr. Letitia Hellion, who brings her to an Institute called I.N.S.A.N.E. The Institute claims to help kids who have amazing abilities, like Piper. Dr. Hellion promises to make sure Piper and her classmates are safe. Although Piper looks up to Dr. Hellion, she soon finds out unsettling information from her classmates.
