2018 MLB World Series Recap

The 2018 MLB World Series was between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox. Both of the teams finished first in their divisions. The Los Angeles Dodgers had the record of 92-71, while the Boston Red Sox had the record of 108-54. Both teams had different roads to reach the World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers had to face the Atlanta Braves in the NL Divisional Series. The Braves finished the season 90-72.  In the first game, the Dodgers beat the Braves 6-0 and took the 1-0 series lead. In the second game, Clayton Kershaw got the starting pitcher job and had a rough start. However, the Dodgers were able to win 3-0.  The third game was held in Atlanta. The Braves got off to a hot start and led 5-0 at one point. The Dodgers had a little comeback but fell short to the Braves 6-5. The Dodgers were leading the series 2-1. In the fourth game, the Dodgers won 6-2 which won them the series 3-1. Now the Dodgers will face the Milwaukee Brewers and are looking to make the World Series once again. In the AL Divisional Series, the Boston Red Sox went up against the New York Yankees. The New York Yankees finished the season 100-62. Both teams were great in the regular season, but the Red Sox have such a complete team they won the series 3-1. The Red Sox were able to win game 1, 3, and 4. In the NL Wild Card, the Dodgers went up against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers won the first game with a score of 6-5 while Dodgers won the second game 4-3. The Brewers won game three 4-0 and the Dodgers won game four 2-1. This series was going back and forth and was going to be a close one. The Dodgers had a bit of momentum heading into game five and won 5-2. The series was now 3-2, Dodgers. The Brewers had to win game six in order to keep their World Series hopes alive and they won 7-2. However, game seven was all Dodgers as they won 5-1 and advanced to the World Series for the second year in a row. The Red Sox had to face the defending World Series Champions the Houston Astros. This series was less difficult for the Red Sox than many thought. Although the Astros were able to win the first game 7-2, the Red Sox dominated the next three games and won the series 4-1, which put them in the World Series. The first game of the World Series was held in Boston on Tuesday, October 23rd. This game was slow in the beginning but the Red Sox got the win 8-4. In the second game, the Dodgers were able to get a one-run lead but could not stop the Red Sox and lost 4-2. Game three of the World Series was a thriller. This was the first game of the series that was held in LA. This game was 7 hours 20 minutes and was the longest game in MLB Postseason history. The Red Sox had a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the tenth inning and the Dodgers scored which caused the game to keep on going. The game went on until the eighteenth inning and ended when Max Muncy of the Dodgers scored a walk-off home run and ended the game. The Red Sox led the series 2-1. In the third game, it looked like the Dodgers were easily going to win the game with a lead of 4-0. However, after the Dodgers made a pitching change the Red Sox kept on scoring and won the game 9-6. In the fifth game, the Red Sox were unstoppable and won the game 5-1, and won the series 4-1. The MLB season has come to an end with the Red Sox being the 2018 MLB Champions.
