This week’s 3-5 reader’s corner book is Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. Opal and her father move to Namoi, Florida in the summer. Opal goes into the Winn-Dixie supermarket and comes out with a shaggy and suffering dog that has a sense of humor. Opal decides to name the dog Winn Dixie. Because of Winn Dixie is about Winn Dixie and Opal’s adventures and struggles throughout the summer. Because of Winn Dixie is a really good and detailed coming to age story that I really recommend!
