The Junior High 7th graders are doing a debate in science class! We were put into random groups with 3-4 people. The debate topic is, whether or not genetic engineering is morally right. Genetic engineering is the deliberate modification of the characteristics of an organism by manipulating its genetic material. We will not know if we are debating for morally right or morally wrong until right before the debate begins. The debate was on Monday the 15th of April. I asked fellow classmate Maria Boutros how the debate was going. She said it was going pretty well and her group had just been working on getting good information/sources. I then asked her what the most important aspect of a group was. She said that it was listening to one another’s ideas. After watching everyone the debate and debating myself, I think we learned a lot as a class and it was very successful.
