Newseum
As I’m sure you know, over spring break 8th grade went on the annual DC trip. On our first day in the city, we walked around the capital and went to the Newseum. The Newseum is a museum in Washington, DC that showcases the news in a 6 story building. The Newseum was one of my favorite parts of the trip. The museum is home to a humongous glass elevator and even a piece of the Berlin Wall. There were countless exhibits from suffrage, to 9/11, to LGBTQ community. My favorite part was an opportunity to stand in front of a green screen and a camera, and pretend to be a newscaster. It was a lot of fun to watch myself and my friends be weird and awkward on camera. I also enjoyed seeing an exhibit that the Newseum is known for, Today’s Front Pages. Today’s Front Pages is a wall of international newspaper headlines tacked in a glass case that is changed daily. Overall, the Newseum was a great place to visit during our time in our nation’s capital and if you ever find yourself there, you should check it out.
