Great Games to Play Over the Summer

Summer is coming up, and most of us are going to have a lot of free time on our hands. While swimming in the pool and hanging out with friends is lots of fun, many of us are also going to want to get some game time in. Due to the fact that many of us quickly run out of video game ideas to play, I have compiled a list below of my top picks of games to play over the summer.

Please note: Some of these games are rated T for Teen. Player discretion is advised.

Fortnite (duh…)

Epic Games tends to go all out with Fortnite over the summer. It’s arguably the best time to play, and most people will be, so you can quickly fill up your squad. Fortnite has some neat additions over the summer, like Season 4 and 5 last year, and we’ll have Seasons 9 and 10 this year. There is also the highly awaited Fortnite world cup to watch, along with the Pro-AM tournament and Summer Block Party. I’m very excited to see what Epic decides to do this summer, and I look forward to squading up with my friends all summer long.

The Legend of Zelda

Like I said in my article a few months ago, The Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite game series ever, and my opinion hasn’t changed. This game series is one that requires a lot of time, hence it’s the perfect game to play over the summer. Being able to experience the story for long, uninterrupted periods of time is incredibly fun and immersive. Most Zelda games are also relatively cheap, so once you’re done with one, you can easily move on to another. I can’t wait to finish Majora’s Mask this summer!

I know what you’re thinking: Minecraft is boring, it’s for little kids, etc. Yes, it may be geared for younger players, but it’s DEFINITELY not boring. Minecraft is a game meant to be played with friends, and that’s what summer is all about! Hanging out with your friends and building masterful mansions is still new and exciting, even after over a decade of the game being out, and over half a decade of me playing it. I really am looking forward to playing it this summer.

This summer is shaping up to be one filled with amazing games and new releases. I can’t wait to see what it holds.
