Song of the Week: “Wildest Dreams” by Taylor Swift

“Wildest Dreams” by Taylor Swift

The song “Wildest Dreams” by Taylor Swift is part of her album “1989.” Taylor Swift wrote the song herself along with the song’s producers, Max Martin and Shellback. The song was released to radio on September 1st, 2015 as 1989’s fifth single after the song “Bad Blood.” Taylor says that the song was inspired by her late grandmother. The song is about Taylor voicing her plea to her lover, played by Scott Eastwood (Clint Eastwood’s son) to remember her after they supposedly break up. A music video was released on August 30th, 2015, and it depicts her in the African Safari acting out a movie with her lover, a fellow actor. Later, she runs away after seeing him with his real wife at the movie premiere. A message was shown shortly at the end of the video, “All of Taylor’s proceeds from this video will be donated to wild animal conservation efforts through the African Parks of America.” The video already has over 71 million views despite only being online for about a month, and this number is expected to increase. This song is amazing and very catchy, and the lyrics are very creative. Madilyn Bailey, a professional Youtube singer, does a fantastic cover of this song, as well as Brandon Skeie and I encourage you to see their “Wildest Dreams” cover on Youtube.
