The Adventures of Taco and Cheeseburger Ch. 17

By Lindsey Michelena & Maria Yniguez

Back in Bumshy Head…..

Ramses frantically searches through books. There is nothing in all of these book about how to control the weather. Oh well, thinks Ramses, Taco and Cheeseburger have got to be back soon, right? They have to. Ramses heads back to the barrier. It is already morning. Alison is at the barrier. “No luck?” asks Alison. “No luck”, replies Ramses. “I have searched through all the books. It took all night, but I still haven’t found anything. You?” “No luck”, replies Alison. “They haven’t returned yet. Garroth, Dante and I have decided to take shifts, each for three hours.” Alison checks her watch. “Garroth should be here to take his shift in five minutes. Do you want me to take a watch shift too?” asks Ramses. “No no no, it’s okay, Ramses. You have so much to do already”, Alison replies. “Okay, but if you need me, just call. I’m going to go around Bumshy Head today. I’m just checking up on everyone, making sure they’re alright”, Ramses says. Suddenly Garroth comes and says, “Hey guys. How did looking through all the books go, Ramses?” Ramses replies, “Not very well. I didn’t find a single thing on weather control, and I searched all night!” Garroth says, “Oh no. Well, anyway, it’s time for my shift.” Garroth stands by the barrier and Ramses says, “I should probably get going to talk to everyone.” Garroth and Alison say bye to Ramses and watch her walk away, towards the town. Garroth says, “Well, I guess I have this shift. You can go and rest. You’re probably tired.” Alison replies, “Thanks Garroth! And don’t worry, I’m SURE Cheeseburger and Taco will be back soon. Anyway, bye!” She walks back to her house.

In the woods…

Taco, Cheeseburger, and Laurence wander through the woods. After hours of walking and changing their direction, they finally reach the barrier. “Yes!” says Laurence. They knock on the barrier. They see that Dante is asleep on the ground. The three of them start to shout loudly, but he doesn’t wake up. “Why is he not waking up?” asks Cheeseburger. “Because the barrier is soundproof!” replies Taco. “Oh, I totally knew that!” giggles Cheeseburger. “But what do we do?” asks Laurence. “We wait for him to wake up”, replies Taco. Suddenly, Hemingway appears. “Hello, guys, I’ve been searching for you everywhere. Where have you been?” Taco says, “Yeah, we were out getting firewood, and a…gorilla…came. We ran and ended up here.” Hemingway says, “Yeah, this isn’t gonna work anymore. I know you’ve been running off. I followed you through the woods. I know everything.” “So…you’re gonna kill us?” asks Laurence. Taco jabs him on the arm. Laurence knows he has done something wrong again so he gives Taco an apologetic look. Hemingway says, “I don’t know what I’m gonna do with you guys. You betrayed me. Oh, what am I saying? We were never friends! Yes, I put up the barrier! I was planning to get rid of you so Bumshy Head would me MINE!!!!!” He laughs evilly. Taco, Cheeseburger, and Laurence bang on the barrier, even though they know that it will do them no good. Taco whispers, “Okay, guys, run on three. Into the woods again. Ready? One, two, three!” They run into the woods. Hemingway runs after them.
