Readers’ Corner: 6-8: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

By Lindsey Michelena & Maria Yniguez

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is a fantasy novel about a teenage girl named Bella Swan. She moves to a town called Forks, and she attends the high school there. She quickly notices five siblings called the Cullens who sit alone at lunch. Bella is confused by this, but just stays with her own new group of friends. She meets Edward Cullen in biology class, and at first she is convinced that he hates her, but they become friendly. She notices he skips school a lot, though. Bella, being very unlucky and prone to danger, constantly gets herself into dangerous situations, and Edward always automatically shows up to save her. Bella hangs out at the beach and meets a boy named Jacob, who tells her that the Cullens are vampires. She tells Edward, and he confirms this. They fall in love and start a relationship. Bella finds dating a vampire very interesting, as he is not the stereotypical vampire. The Cullens are good vampires, who don’t eat humans, but some vampires aren’t like this. Because of this, Bella finds herself in more danger. To find out more about Bella, Edward, and the rest of the Cullens’ adventure, read Twilight which can be found in the Learning Commons.
