7th Grade Mayfield Senior Leadership Field Trip
This week on Monday the Seventh Grade class had a field trip to Mayfield Senior. This has been an optional field trip in the past years but this year the field trip was mandatory. There were two other schools at this field trip Assumption and St. Rita. As a class we were separated into groups sectioned into Lead, Learn and Live. In those groups we were taught leadership exercises and got to interact with the other schools. We were taught about leaders that have been important in our world and how to be a good leader. We learned how to make friends by going out of our comfort zones and telling everybody about ourselves. We decided to ask a couple students what they thought about this field trip and here were their responses.
FF: What were your thoughts about our Field trip to Mayfield Senior?
Ashlynn Hurley: I thought the field trip was really fun and I learned a lot from it especially about what leadership really was.
Leah Boutros: I thought the field trip was very educational and that we learned how not to be shy and be leaders and that not all leaders are at the top but sometimes the leader has to be at the bottom to push everybody and listen to everyone else’s opinion.
Vince Ciampa: It was fun. The leaders were all really friendly and helped us become better leaders and servant leaders. They taught us the good characteristics to be a leader and incorporated it into fun games and activities. They also gave us more information about important leaders in history like MLK Jr. and Mahatma Ghandi.
This leadership day was inspiring for the seventh graders. They seemed like they enjoyed it a lot. The seventh graders at Saint Philip’s are now all bound to be leaders!
