On November 4th the sixth graders went on a trip to camp curry in Yosemite. It was a five hour bus drive and they stopped at Mc Donalds and in and out for lunch. When they got there they were given keys to cabins that had three beds and four or three people in each tent. To keep everyone safe they had a buddy system so no one could go anywhere alone there were the purple, blue, green, and pink groups each with their own chaperone. They all went to the gift show on different days to buy souvenirs like cups, magnets and sweatshirts. Everyday they would wake up at 6:00 and get ready for a day of hiking and learning. The breakfast there was great. There were eggs, french toast and many fruits to choose from. They would have lunch on the trail and dinner back in the cafeteria then go out for their evening program which would be roasting marshmallows doing skits or playing a game like jeopardy. After evening programs they would brush their teeth and go back into their cabins for quiet hours where they could do anything but they’d have to be quiet and then go to bed at 10:00. One day of the week they would go on a challenge hike where they hiked 2 miles, but that’s not all they explored caves sat by the creek and wrote in there journal and would even take a walk alone to reflect. Best of all they did team building exercises like the caterpillar where kids would be blind folded put there hands on each others shoulders and went around obstacles. When the sixth graders got back they were greeted with their parents’ treats, flowers and little siblings holding up a sign that said welcome back sixth graders. The sixth graders had an amazing time in Yosemite and got to see amazing sights like El Capitan and Half Dome. It was an amazing experience and everyone learned from it.
