St. Philip students participated in the 2nd annual Christian service day on November 13th. Groups visited many different places, such as Ability First Center, LA Food Bank, and Ronald McDonald House. The group that will be discussed today is the Motecedro Senior Living Center. It was a lovely center dedicated to elders where they can relax and meet new people.
We met many interesting residents, one of them being Sally. Sally (as well as many other residents) had dementia. Motecedro provided a program called Memory Care for people with dementia. We talked to Sally, and Robert while we were creating clay leaves. Sally grew up in Glendale and went to San Marino High School. She met her husband during a blind date and they have been living happily since then. Robert had a very eventful life; he was a piolet during World War II! These stories opened our eyes to how much a person has to tell. It was such an interesting experience and a great opportunity to learn more about the residents of the Motecedro Senior Living Center.
Overall the 2nd annual Christian service day was a real blast. We hope it will be done again!
