The Finest Christmas Tree by John and Ann Hassett is a sweet story about a Christmas tree grower named Farmer Tuttle. Every year, he would sell his Christmas trees and go into town and buy Mrs. Tuttle a hat. One year however, people suddenly started buying plastic trees, leaving him no money to get his wife a hat. He started to worry, and debated selling all of his tree to a sawmill. He then receives a mysterious letter requesting his finest tree. Late in the night, Farmer Tuttle goes into his forest and discovers tiny footprints. He searches further and finds a stump and a box, containing a lovely hat for Mrs. Tuttle. Every Christmas after that, his visitors would come back for another tree, and leave another hat.
