Thank You
It’s that time of year again when we sit down at the Thanksgiving table and give thanks. It’s a time of year when we all just seem closer and more united. Almost everyday I say “thank you” to at least one person. I asked myself, what does the word “thank you” really mean? To many people it could mean a simple sign of respect to someone who may have done something small such as picking up a pencil you dropped. According to the Webster’s dictionary “thank you” means a polite expression to someone. To me “thank you” is so much more than that. I feel like the way you say “thank you” is affected by what exactly you are thanking someone for. Just recently I asked a friend of mine for advice. Once they gave me the advice I looked them in the eye and sincerely said “thank you”. Other times when I say “thank you” have not been as sincere such as when someone has picked something up for me that I have dropped. That leads me back to the first question what does “thank you” really mean? It’s a word that we sometimes take for granted, a word that is used to express our deepest thankfulness to someone. I’ve learned that many different words such as “thank you”, can be used many different ways and it all depends on how you use them and the tone of your voice. So, have a great holiday break and say “thank you” to someone. Happy Thanksgiving!
