Boys JV Basketball Red
As you may know this year St. Philip has four basketball teams, boys Varsity, girls Varsity, and two JV boys teams. In this article, we are going to talk about the Red JV (there will be articles about the other teams throughout the season). So far the Red JV team has won two games, and lost zero games. The Red JV won their first game against Holy Angels, 21 to 14. It was a low scoring game compared to the second game, which the Red JV also won. The score of the second game against Holy Family was 35 to 22. As you can tell, the Red JV team has done really well so far this season. The Red JV team run a 1-3-1 zone offense and defense. They also run a full court press (defense), which helps create turnovers. The Red JV game on the 13th started late because the boys Varsity game went into a nail biting double overtime, but lost 42 to 38. Boys Varsity played a tough Holy Angels team. With the nail biting loss in double overtime, the Varsity boys are now 1-1, the Varsity girls are 0-2, the Black JV is 0-1, and the Red JV is 2-0 (these records are as of January 13th).
