Easter Masses
Easter is a time to rejoice, as our Lord has risen! We have spent 40 days in repentance and prayer – let’s break out the Easter candies and chocolates (For more information on what candy to get, reference Greta Coontz’s and Elizabeth Rosenberger’s analysis on good and bad Easter candy)!
Easter is “the most important service of public worship and Masses of the liturgical year,” and it’s the first time since Lent that we sing “Alleluia” (wikipedia).
Easter Sunday is an eventful day for all, marking the beginning of spring break. But everyone has a different experience, so we decided to document what the religious holiday is like for us.
Robert Alietti 7A:
The Easter mass is great. It may be one of the longest masses of the year but it’s one of my favorites. It signifies the end of Lent which is great because then I can really indulge in some sweets after forty days without them. It also signifies the resurrection of Jesus and his coming back from the dead. The mass is also a difficult one to altar serve for so it ends up making you stress out for nothing if you altar serve which my colleague Vivian and myself participate in. This also means that spring break starts the next day which is really exciting. I also get to see my relatives which is really nice. Easter is a really special holiday to me and I hope it is to you too.
Vivian Nguyen 7A:
I think the Easter Mass really makes the Easter season official. It’s like a big banner signifying that Easter is here! It’s also really cool to wake up early on the weekdays with a sense of purpose and joy, and then dress up really fancy for the morning mass. Most of the time, I attend mass with my grandparents, and so it’s not only a celebration but a reunion with loved ones. And once you return home, spring break starts! But inside the church, you could really feel the love and joy in all the people singing “Alleluia!” for the first time since the beginning of Lent. Easter is a great holiday which I am glad to call one of my favorites.
