Brazilian Soccer Team
The Brazilian Chapecoense soccer team’s plane crashed earlier this week and there were only 6 survivors out of 77 total people, leaving 71 dead. The deceased consisted of talented Brazilian soccer players and several journalists. Some of the survivors are a reserve goalkeeper and two defenders. The team was flying from Bolivia to Medellin in Colombia on a chartered flight. The plane is said to have crashed due to electrical problems. The crash happened in an area called Cerro El Gordo, near Medellin. Many matches that took place after the tragic accident, gave their respect by a standing in a moment of silence before the game started. The most watched sporting event in the world, the El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, respected the Brazilian teammates before the match had begun as well. Also, this is extremely devastating to Brazil because this was their best shot at winning a title in 3 years. The disastrous accident will have a big effect on the way Brazilians play in games from now on.
