Varsity Boys win Tournament
The Varsity boys basketball team won the Don Bosco Tech tournament to begin their season. In the tournament final, against Saint James (from Torrance, CA), the Varsity Falcons outscored St. James, 35-24. The Falcons opened up a lead toward the onset of the game, and maintained the lead for the rest of the game, as they repeated as tournament champions. Eddie Yousef was the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, and Andrew Cabato and Paul Hawkins were named All-Tournament. Yousef was named MVP both for his shooting (hitting several key three-point shots) and for his hustle, diving on the ground to get a loose ball several times during the tournament.
The Falcons had to win three games to reach the finals, the first two of which were not very close. They begin with a win over Holy Name of Mary from San Dimas, 48-24, and then beat Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) from Downey, 41-12. In the semifinals, they beat another school from Downey, this time St. Raymond, by a score of 39-26.
