Are you looking for a fun craft to do for the holidays using the stuff around your house? Well then you should try to make salt dough santas! It’s a super simple craft that is perfect for the holidays!

How to make salt dough:

• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup salt (NOT SEA SALT)
• Up to 1 cup lukewarm water 

Instructions

1. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk the flour and salt together until well mixed.
2. Add water and mix: Gradually add the water, a little at a time, and stir the mixture. It will become too hard to stir with a spoon eventually.
3. Knead the dough: Turn the mixture out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it with your hands for 5 to 10 minutes until it is smooth, pliable, and consistent.

Troubleshooting: If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it’s too dry and crumbly, add a few drops more water.

1. Put flour on a surface that you don’t mind getting dirty, and roll out the dough until the desired thickness. 
2. Press your left palm into the dough. 
3. Cut around your hand print and poke a hole in it so you can hang it as an ornament
4. Bake in the oven for 1-3 hours depending on the thickness. Make sure to check it periodically so you don’t over bake it. 

How to decorate:

Paint (red, skin tone, and white)

Cotton ball

1. Paint the hand print the desired color with the four fingers as the beard and thumb as hat. Add a face. Then glue the cotton ball for the ball on the hat. 
2. Let dry
