Softball Season Ends, Volleyball Playoffs Begin This Week
The Boys Varsity Volleyball team concluded their undefeated regular season, going 8-0, as they beat all of the teams in the league twice. They are 11-0 overall, with their first game of the playoffs on Sunday, May 18 after a bye. Their second round opponent will be St. Louise de Marillac. They have lost only one set during the season, to Holy Family. In that set, they fell way behind at 16-3 before losing 26-24. The Falcons went on to win the next two sets in that game, and did not lose another set, let alone another match, during the rest of the regular season en route to the East Foothill league title. In their rematch of Holy Family later in the season, the Falcons won 25-18 in the first set, then 25-23 in the second set. Holy Family is the only other team from the East Foothill league in the playoffs, and they beat St. Bernard Los Angeles in the first round, advancing to face Cathedral Chapel.
The Girls Varsity softball team concluded their season, having won two and tied one game in their six game season, finishing fifth in the Foothill league. They beat Holy Trinity LA and San Gabriel Mission. Their tie was an 8-8 game against St. Rita, who finished in second place in the Foothill League. The Falcons had a positive run differential despite their losing record record.
