Falcons Ranked Sixth in CYO
The Falcons are currently tied for sixth in the Director’s Cup Standings, which is a ranking of the athletic programs in CYO Los Angeles. The Falcons have been propelled by their Girls Volleyball, Cross Country, and Boys Basketball programs, which earned the Falcons four points for each of those sports. Girls Basketball gave the Falcons the remaining point, for a total of 13 points. The leader of the standings is American Martyrs, which has 32 points, and is well on the way to winning the Director’s Cup, with a lead of 13.5 points. All of the other teams are much closer to the Falcons, with Our Lady of Fatima in second with 18.5 points, just 5.5 more than the Falcons.
The points are tabulated for “Conference Events” (sports that involve a conference schedule, such as softball and volleyball) by awarding one point for each team that makes the playoffs, and one point for each game won. For track and field (and cross country) the winning team for CYO Finals receives 4 points, and the second and third places teams receive two and one points respectively.
Spring sports are halfway over. Girls softball has completed the regular season, with two wins and two losses, and boys Varsity Volleyball has opened their season with two losses. Track and field has won all three meets so far, with four remaining.
