3rd Place Junior High: Violet

A long time ago, when our grandfathers were kids There was a man named Tristan. He was a shy man who was very modest and kind. One day, at work, Tristan met a new employee named, Violet. She was very nice and they became fast friends. Even though Tristan was shy, he was never felt nervous around her. One day, they decided to go have dinner together. They went  to a restaurant near an old hospital. As Tristan walked past the old hospital on his way to the restaurant, he stopped to look at it. It was so old. Then, he saw a ghost!!! It was a man not much older than fifty. Then the ghost whispered softly, barely hearing it, it said “Leave your job, leave your house, but most importantly leave Violet.” This scared Tristan so much, he ran as fast as he could.

When Tristan finally got to the restaurant, Violet was already there. She was on the phone and as soon as she saw him she quickly hung up and hid her phone in her purse. This surprised him, but he quickly forgot about everything, once they started talking. They talked about all kinds of things. He felt like he could tell her anything. He told her how scared he was asking her to go to dinner with him. Afterall, he had never asked a girl out before. She told him about the many male friends she had made over the years, and how all of them either fled the country or died by accidental deaths. That’s when Tristan remembered the ghost!  He asked her to describe the last male that died. The description of the dead man fit the ghost’s image perfectly!

This scared Tristan, but he was determined to solve this mystery.  He couldn’t stop thinking about the ghost that night. He decided to prove to himself and the ghost that he would stay alive while going out with Violet. He continued going out with her and nothing happend.

The happy couple dated for about two years until, one day, Tristan decided he wanted to marry Violet. He went shopping for the ring. It took a long time because he wanted to find the perfect ring. When Tristan felt he had found the perfect ring he could even see his own reflection in . As he stared at his reflection, it changed to the image of the ghost he saw a couple of years back at the old hospital. Then he heard a slight whisper that spoke one word,  “Warning.” IT WAS COMING FROM THE RING!! He got so scared, he screamed!! It took him days to calm down.

Tristan decided he loved Violet too much to see her go. She had been too kind for him to just give up.  So he did the only thing he knew to do, face his fear and propose. He asked her to meet him at the place where they had their first date. On the night that he would propose he walked to the restaurant. He passed the hospital as before. He stared, once again at the same ghost, but when he approached it, it quickly jumped back. Tristan quickly realized, it was not a ghost, IT WAS VIOLET!! She stared at him in a threatening way, then, slowly, she took something out of her purse, a dagger! Hastily, she stabbed him with it, gave a sly smile and ran away. Tristan remained still, in great pain he stayed out there for a little while, unable to move. After a short time, somebody saw him and took him into the hospital where he would need stitches. When he was in the operating room he looked up at the doctor and saw the doctor was the ghost!!! The last words Tristan would ever hear were, “I warned you.”  To this day Violet still roams the earth, and looks for her next victims to KILL.
