1st place 3rd grade: The Haunted Balloon

One day a kid named Max Carven was going on a field trip to the local park on Flingingtin Street.  “I wonder what we’re gonna do there?”, said Claire.  “Maybe have lunch or something.” said Robin.  When the school got there, they were sorted into groups by shirt color.  Max went into the lime green group, as always, with Claire, Robin, Jason, Jessica, and Tom.

First they had lunch.  then it was game time.  the lime green group would play “Pop that balloon” then kickball, the capture the flag, and last the play structure.  Robin was first and Max was last.  After Tom’s turn it would be Max’s turn.

Max ran to the balloon and stepped on it hard!  But then he realized it didn’t pop.  The balloon was floating in mid-air.  It didn’t say ‘local park’.  It had a horrorizing face on it.  “DID YOU THINK YOU COULD BEAT ME THAT EASY?!”  The balloon said, “IT’S TIME TO PLAY KILL THAT HUMAN! MWAHAHAHAHA!”

Max was running as fast as he could to get away from the haunted balloon.  He picked up a Sharpie from the table.  “OH NO! BALLOONS CAN POP FROM SHARP EDGES!”, the balloon cried.  Max threw the Sharpie at the haunted balloon.  “GOOD-BYE CRUEL WORLD!”, the balloon said before he popped.  Max was claimed the hero of the school and he lived happily ever after… “JUST A QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT, I’M COMING AFTER YOU… MWHAHAHAHAHA!”
