Peacebuilder of the Week: Daniel Alvarez
Although Thanksgiving may be over, the spirit of kindness will always continue! A real life example of this is a wonderful peacebuilder in the 4th grade. Daniel Alvarez helped carry a turkey in the school for their teacher, Ms. Webster.
Each year, each teacher brings in 1 turkey for families in need. It’s part of the Thanksgiving food drive that St. Philips holds each year. Each grade is assigned a specific food to bring and each teacher pitches in by donating the centerpiece of all Thanksgiving dinner tables – the turkey!
When Daniel was asked why he is a peacebuilder and does kind things to others, he said that “I feel great when I do good things” and that he would do it again. Providing another example of kindness, Daniel said that his friend “was short a dollar at the book fair and I finished his payment.” That is great, Daniel! Thank you for being such a good peacebuilder and a true St. Philips falcon.
As we are in Advent and prepare to have another special Christmas, let us always keep the true spirit of kindness and giving in this season. Let’s have the greatest Christmas yet and remember in spite of all the business and priorities, that the greatest gift we can give is caring and loving every life and every person around us. Be kind falcons!
