Mrs. Ortega is the new junior high ELA teacher! She has previously taught junior high religion, 7th and 8th grade ELA, and math, and she taught 2nd grade.
Mrs. Ortega chose to teach SPAS because she heard there were great students and amazing teachers. She also chose SPAS because she was looking for a school to help students grow and learn.
We interviewed Mrs. Ortega!
Mia: How long have you been teaching?
Mrs. Ortega: I have been a teacher for 4 years. This will be my 5th year teaching.
Caitlin: What is your favorite thing about this job?
Mrs. Ortega: My favorite thing about teaching is getting to see my students grow.
Mia: Do you have any pets?
Mrs. Ortega: I have no pets because I am allergic to cats.
Caitlin: What is your favorite color and why?
Mrs. Ortega: I love all colors like blue pastels and neutrals because they are calming colors.
Mia: Are you enjoying your time here?
Mrs Ortega: I am loving my time here at SPAS. I love all the teachers and students.
Caitlin: Why did you become a teacher?
Mrs. Ortega: When I was little I always wanted to become a teacher, because I really wanted to help change the lives of young people.
Mia: Where did you get your education from?
Mrs. Ortega: I got my education at Sacramento State to get my bachelor’s degree. I got my master’s at LMU and received a degree in social science with a minor in history.
Caitlin: What is your favorite book?
Mrs. Ortega: My favorite genres are nonfiction, history, and the lives of saints. I also enjoy fact books.
Mrs. Ortega is an amazing teacher. All the teachers and students are happy to have her.
