Percy Jackson is a book series by Rick Riordan. But recently, it has had a different media explosion. On December 19, 2023, Walker Scobell and others walked out onto the screen when the popular TV show adaptation of Percy Jackson was released to the world. The TV show adaptation has led to some controversy, however, as many believe the book is better than the TV show and others think that the TV show is superior to the book.
Summary
The story of Percy Jackson starts when he is just 12 years old and finds out he’s a demigod. Percy, who is the son of Poseidon, fights monsters, ventures off into quests, makes friends, makes allies, and even makes enemies. This story has adventure, fantasy, friendship, and includes Greek mythology. We recommend both the book and the series to lovers of all of those genres, and even a little chaos.
Now here are the arguments for which mythical kind of chronicles is the supreme.
Camille Opinion
Percy Jackson is a true classic to many people in our generation. It makes me very happy that the popularity of the story of Percy and his friends has increased. Regardless of that happiness, I have to say that I prefer the books. The books are much more nostalgic for me because I read the books first waaay before the show even existed. The show changed and added the story and took away from the original mystique that drew me to Percy Jackson in the first place. The books make everything more subtle and delicate. In the books, you really had to pay attention to understand every hint and note, but in the show they practically scream every hint.
Pamela’s Opinion
I love the books and the show, but if I had to pick the better one… it would be the books. I feel like everything just felt more captivating while reading it. I honestly think that the characters’ personalities were really exaggerated and the show took some of that away. For example, I prefer Percy in the books rather than Percy in the show—-even though it’s the same character. I also feel like the climax and fight scenes felt more real in the books. The stakes were really high. In the show, those jaw-dropping plot twists went too fast and felt less important. However, this could just be because I read it before I watched it.
Conclusion
We have concluded that….. (drum roll)
The books are the superior Percy Jackson!
The books are a tried and true series that will be loved and adored for years to come. We believe that the recent boom in popularity came from the fact that this generation does not read books as much as they watch television and they would be less inclined to read when there was a TV show about it, regardless of quality and accuracy. We still love the show, (Love Walker and Leah!), but in the end, Percy Jackson is still wonderful, whether literary or cinematic, and we highly recommend it.
