Some make more than others, while some make worse ones than others. Bad decisions are a part of growing up. With the vast group of diverse people located in this story, nothing is impossible. Ever. Even when all hope is lost, you can always find a way to bring Shadows into Light.
Chapter One – It Starts Here…
In the city, a major chase was taking place. Using powers to stretch from rooftop to rooftop, the city’s most notorious villain, Zimmer, was making his escape, prized gemstone in hand. In hot pursuit, the local group of heroes followed. “Get back here Zimmer! You’ll never get away with this!” the lead hero, Iridessa, called out. “Try and stop me!” he bragged back. Not looking where he was going, he bumped into two other heroes. Super speed and teleportation are two very useful abilities. “Going somewhere?” Spark, the one with super speed, asked while smirking. Zimmer snarled and jumped down off the building. As he hit the floor, he gave a whistle.
Out of the shadows, three dark shapes emerged. First, a girl with monstrously long claws and wickedly long teeth smiled evilly. Next came a girl with piercings up along her ears and an Australian shepherd with different colored eyes. And lastly, came a girl wearing a black t-shirt with jeans and combat boots. “Well hello Roulette, Odette, and Crystal. Hold them off for me will you?” Zimmer asked sassily. “Why should we?” Roulette asked.“‘Cause I want you too!” he responded, snapping his fingers. “Why?” Odette asked boredly.“If you don’t stop asking them stupid questions, I’m gonna freak out!” Zimmer yelled at the top of his lungs. For everyone who knew him, you DON’T want that. So, sighing in boredom, the other villains turned around to fight.
With a snarl, Roulette jumped into the air, morphing into her wolf form, Fray. “I’m gonna tear you to shreds!” she growled. Odette let out a loud whistle, and suddenly, a massive flow of animals surrounded her. The air began to chill around Crystal as she formed balls of ice in her hands. Aura stepped up to fight Crystal. Spark and Mystic (the one with teleportation) both prepared to take on Fray. Venus shared a long angry glare with Odette before the two took battle positions. With a howl from Fray, the battle began.
Spark and Mystic began to circle around Fray, using their powers to cause confusion to the massive wolf. She continuously lashed out, but to no avail. Both boys began to strike her as they passed, making her howl. But the battle had just begun, and she quickly learned the pattern of their attacks. Feigning defeat, she fell to the floor. Cocky nature getting the best of him, Spark dashed towards the “defeated” wolf to brag. But before he knew it, she clamped her jaws down on the hero’s leg. She bit down harder at her success, jaw like a pitbull’s unbreakable grip.
While she thought she was safe, she was wrong. Fray was suddenly struck from behind, causing her to loosen her grip. In her brief triumph, Fray had forgotten about Mystic. While she wanted to attack him, having Spark’s leg in her jaws halted any other action. She could only brace herself as Mystic came back again, and again, and again. Finally, she let go as Spark limped away. To avoid capture, she transformed back to human and quickly fled. “Heroes one, villains none!” Mystic yelled happily as he went to help his friend.
Odette and Venus were in a hot combat, the battle between plants and animals. It was quite the sight to behold. Both girls were unwilling to let up their ruthless attack on each other. The battle seemed to go nowhere, for each time one girl was getting the upper hand, the other would strike back. Their fight was going to take a while.
Crystal had surrounded herself in thick ice, thinking that would be all she needed to protect herself. But for Aura, there was one way still open. The sky. Channeling her powers of wind, she sent a powerful blast of air and landed right inside Crystal’s “shield”. “That won’t work for me.” Aura stated calmly, sending a shot of wind towards Crystal. Reacting quickly, Crystal raised a wall of ice. “And that won’t work for me!” Crystal retorted. They continued their battle, each hitting each other and refusing to flee.
Above the battles, Iridessa and Zimmer stood at opposite ends of a building top. “What’s wrong, Zimmer? You’re so afraid, you have to call in backup! Too bad that won’t help you…” Iridessa taunted. Zimmer stretched quickly across the building. Iridessa focused on his location. She then closed her eyes, concentrating. “Aim…” she whispered to herself. In a quick motion, she thrusted her hand forward, shooting forth a beam of light. Her shot hit its target, bringing Zimmer to a stop. Panting, he ran towards Iridessa in anger. Charging another beam, she ran in the opposite direction of the vexed villain. Coming to the edge, she whipped around and launched the beam straight into his chest. The powerful blow sent Zimmer across the building top and into an electrical pole. Grunting, he weakly called out, “Retreat… Everyone, Retreat!” All the other evil-doers heard his call and left as quickly as they had come.
