St. Philip Through the Eyes of a Kindergartener

The beginning of any school year causes all sorts of emotions, from feeling scared, excited, nervous, to being anxious. That is how I feel at the beginning of every school year. So I was curious to see how a kindergartener would feel since this is their first year at a “real” school. A kindergartener at St. Philip named Nicholas (Nicky) Kushnieruk in KB told me how he felt on his first day at St. Philip.

On Nicky’s first day at St. Philip, he was very excited and, “not nervous at all”. All his teachers were very nice and welcoming on the first day of school too. They taught Nicky many things that would help prepare him and his classmates for first grade. After asking how his first day at St. Philip was, I asked Nicky how the entire year of kindergarten was. He told me he really liked his first year at St. Philip. He made many friends and loved playing soccer and jump rope with them. He loved all the fun activities and games the kindergarteners participated in throughout the year too. Although Nicky loved his kindergarten year at St. Philip and everyone he met this year, he is still very excited for summer vacation. He even plans on going to Disneyland and his family’s beach house!

It has been so much fun hearing Nicky’s opinion and views. It reminded me of my experience in kindergarten. Nicky was super excited about being interviewed for the Falcon’s Flyer. I really loved interviewing Nicky for my article.
