Shadows Into Light Chapter Seven
Chapter Seven – Sibling Rivalries
Mystic hoped he could get this done quickly. He already knew exactly what was coming for him. “Of course it’s you who comes after me.” said an all-too-familiar tone. Mystic stiffened up, but knew better than to expect what he saw. Shapeshifting is dangerous to deal with. ESPECIALLY when you know the person. “Oblivion! Being a coward as usual I see?” Mystic called out. People passing by looked at him like he was insane. But he knew that one of them was acting. One of them was his target.
“Everyone! Can I have you stand still for a moment?” the hero asked. People stared at him for a long time. As much as he didn’t like attention, this was what he wanted. Scanning the eyes of all the crowd, he locked on a pair of bright, aqua eyes. Teleporting, he grabbed hold of the “man”’s shirt, forcing a certain someone to transform. “Stay away from me!” Oblivion shouted. Oblivion drop kicked his foe and proceeded to round the corner. Trying to hurry quickly, Mystic followed, but it was too late. The villain had already changed, and was lost once more.
The problem was, they were in an alleyway. The only life was the hero himself and a few rats. Where could he- Eyes widening, Mystic concocted a plan. Stepping backwards, he let light shine through the narrow space. It was then that the shapeshifter stood out. Upon the wall, there were the shadows of the rats… and a human. Moving too quickly for the villain to react, Mystic grabbed the small animal. Teleporting to his room at the hero’s base, Mystic snatched up the item he kept just in case this situation ever came up. As Oblivion returned to his original form, Mystic clamped on a pair of handcuffs made of gold. Oblivion snarled as the inhibitors kept him from using his power. “I HATE you!” the now imprisoned boy stated. Sighing, Mystic replied, “I know. After all, we are brothers. Well, time to take you to where you belong.” Full of regret, Mystic took hold of his sibling. With that, the two vanished, and nothing remained.
“Zimmer!” Iridessa yelled, facing the government’s Priority #1. Zimmer smirked as he heard the call of the light female. “Why hello highly disliked acquaintance! As much as I would love to stay and chat,” he began, preparing to sprint. “I gotta go!” The unpredictable antagonist dashed off down the city streets, zipping through alleyway to alleyway. Iridessa gave chase, hoping to catch him before he got away. Knowing that being alone wasn’t enough, she touched her finger to her ear, turning on her communicator. “Calling all heroes. I need some help pursuing Zimmer. I’m on the corner of 7th and 9th street. Get here ASAP!” No sooner than she finished, two boys were immediately in front of her. “Spark and Mystic, ready to serve!” Spark stated, saluting mockingly. Shaking her head while smiling, Iridessa waited eagerly for the rest of her team to come.
