Not Your Average Knights Chapter Eleven
Chapter Eleven ~ It’s Elementary
Robyn and Bree watched as Tyrell, Brittney, and Panda fired arrows at targets. Bree hummed a merry tune as she honed her machete and Robyn observed absentmindedly, still scheming ways to discover the “secret”. Let’s see… Just asking the king would cause him to clam up, and that would do us no good. Hazel might be able to shed some light, but she’s not here… There must be some alternate form of information. The answer came so suddenly that she literally jumped into the air. “A diary!”
The cry was so unexpected that the archers missed their marks by a good few feet. “What,” Tyrell said, turning to her with a look of annoyance, “Exactly does that mean?” With a smug look of pride, Robyn explained, “Simple. The ‘secret’ has to do with Hazel in some way. So, for more information, I’m going to read her diary!” “You can’t do that!” Bree interjected, glancing up from her weapon. “That would be an invasion of her privacy!” Robyn mock sighed and place her hand around her comrade’s shoulders, unable to completely wipe the smile off her face, “Sometimes, Bree, you gotta do what you gotta do.” Excitement coursed through her as she ran back to the castle, and despite her conscience, Bree followed. This was one mystery she wanted to solve.
Robyn burst down the hallway with Bree on her heels, coming to a stop in front of Hazel’s door. They hesitated a bit, thinking of Hazel’s wrath upon returning. Key word: a bit. Robyn turned the knob, entering the room. It wasn’t anything extraordinary. The bed was neatly made, closet relatively empty. The one extra feature? A small bookcase, each shelf lined with literature. The investigator approached the books, searching the titles. “I don’t see a diary…” Bree commented, looking over her shoulder. Robyn sat and considered for a moment. Was there anything particular she ever said in her talks of books? ‘The tales of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table should be a guideline for all knights-’ Her eyes locked on said book and immediately grabbed it. She flipped through the pages… Until a separate sheet fell out. Both knights read the scrawly handwriting eagerly.

“Huh. Guess this is her idea of a note.” Bree stated. “To herself. What tree?” Robyn asked. “Maybe where she reads?” the other knight suggested. Putting the book back in its place but keeping the note, they both stood up. To the next investigation location!
