First Grade Goes on a Trip to the LA Zoo
On April sixteenth, the first graders went to the LA Zoo. Before they went to the zoo I interviewed three children from the first grade: Lyla, Carson, and Landon. I asked them multiple questions such as what animals are you looking forward to seeing? and What are you going to do at the zoo? The children all had a variety of animals they wanted to see like hippopotamus, elephants, sea otters, and monkeys. All of the children were very excited to go to the zoo because of all the animals. Many of the children had not gone to the zoo before which made them even more excited to go because they have never seen certain types of animals in person. The children all seemed very interested in seeing the monkeys. When I asked Lyla, Carson, and Landon they all told me the animals they wanted to see and everyone wanted to see the monkeys. I was amazed by the animals that some of the children wanted to see because they were very different and interesting animals. I asked some of the children why they were so excited to see the monkeys and they said that the monkeys were their favorite animals and that they had been learning about monkeys in class. In the first grade, they are learning all about the animals and monkeys. All the children seemed really excited to go to the zoo and too see all the different animals!
