What am I Thankful For?
On November 26th we celebrate the day of thanks. Every year, my family gathers together at my house and eats a delicious meal prepared by my parents. The meal has many dishes such as Turkey all the way to the cranberry sauce. My favorite dish of all is the ham because it is flavorful and delicious.
At the beginning of dinner we say a prayer to thank God for the food that we are blessed to have and about to eat. The thing I am most thankful for is my family, because they are always there for help and support in whatever I do no matter what it is, from sports to school. I am thankful for many other things such as the food that I am able to eat everyday and the education I am able to receive to become a good and successful person.
Thanksgiving is a day to think back of all the memories and remember how lucky and how grateful you should be to have a loving family and many great things that some people might not have. One Thanksgiving memory that I love is when we finish eating dinner and we all go into the living room and play games. I love this part of Thanksgiving because this is a time where we are all together having fun and just passing time with family.
On Thanksgiving there are acts of kindness performed all around the world to feed the homeless and other people that are unfortunate and aren’t able to afford a Thanksgiving meal. At St. Philip we are helping those that can’t afford a Thanksgiving meal, by each grade donating food and the teachers donating the turkeys, and that is a great act of kindness to support those in need. This day is to remember the things we are lucky to have but it is also a day to give and help, so on Thanksgiving everybody should do an act of kindness and put a smile on someone’s face.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
