“The Devil Wears Prada” is a movie about a journalist who goes to get a job as an assistant for Miranda Presley, the head of the magazine Runway. This job is very hard and Andy, the journalist, has to learn to work fast and efficiently, because if not her career and job will be gone. This movie is inspired by the Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, and her assistant, Lauren Weisberg. Being her assistant wasn’t about journalism, but was about doing very specific tasks, very fast with no question. She later quits to start a career in journalism because she realizes she is becoming too much like her ruthless boss, Miranda Priestly. She is also sacrificing her personal life, integrity, and relationships for the career.
We both love this movie and it’s definitely one of our favorites. It is a great mother- daughter movie, but also a good family movie. The way the boss is portrayed is very witty and bossy and that combined with her assistant’s innocence and keeping up with the annoying boss, makes for an entertaining and fun movie to watch.
Here are some fun facts!
1. Anne Hathaway wasn’t the first choice for Andy but was the ninth.
2. No designer wanted to lend clothes to the movie.
3. It took multiple tries to get the script right.
4. Emily Blunt’s character wasn’t meant to be British.
5. They had a very tight budget at the end of the film.
