Have you ever been in a scenario where you can’t find a book that interests you. Or maybe you’re not a big reader, but want to start reading. People read for many reasons, some being just if you want to enhance your vocabulary or a certain genre or idea interests you and you want to read and learn more. One thing that people struggle with the most, and this is from personal experience, is finding a book that you want to read instead of just reading a book that you are not one bit interested in or you have to force yourself to read. This article will help you find the perfect book for you!
The first step to finding the perfect book is first asking yourself some questions. Make sure to be honest to yourself because this is a crucial part of finding a book.
These are the questions that you should ask yourself:
1. Do I like chapter books or comic books better?
2. What do I enjoy reading about? What genre are you interested in? An example of how to answer this is that my favorite book genre is historical and fictional.
3. How many pages in a book is too many pages, and how many is too little? (Find a good range)
4. Do you enjoy thrilling, humorous, or dark reads?
After you answer these questions, this is what to do next. You can then do some research so it does not have to be too much. Just something quick. You will research based on your answers to the question. Everyone’s answer will be different.
If you don’t want to research or don’t want to answer the questions. The next best thing is asking for recommendations. You can ask friends, family, or classmates if they really enjoyed it or would recommend any book. When they give you a recommendation you can search up the book and see if you are interested in it.
These are some tips I recommend:
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Even if you see a book with a really pretty or cool design, it does not mean that that book is right for you or you will like. Make sure to read the back of the book just to get a short summary of the book to see if you like it.
Just because your friend recommends a book does not mean you would like it. Everyone has different opinions and book options. Find books you like, not what your friend likes.
If you still can’t find a book that interests you, these are some book recommendations I have for different genres.
Romance recommendations:
1. Courtesy of Cupid by Nashae Jones
2. Mind to Be by Katie Cicatelli-Kuc (which is in a set with the book Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice)
3. Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice by Katie Cicatelli-Kuc
4. Places We’ve Never Been by Kasie West
5. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
Fantasy Recommendation:
1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
2. The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
3. The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer
4. Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
5. Wings of Fire by TUI T. SUTHERLAND
Mystery Recommendation:
