Every year on December 31 all across America friends and families get together to celebrate the coming of a New Year. In New York City thousands of people pack around Times Square anticipating the annual ball drop at midnight symbolizing the new year. Multiple television stations such as NBC had the viewing of the ball drop as well as an assortment of entertainment. On NBC Carson Daly, the infamous host from the hit show, The Voice, entertained viewers at home as well as the ones that had been in New York. Ryan Seacrest helped continue the legacy of Dick Clark’s Rockin Eve by entertaining the crowd as well. Some performers who contributed to the big celebration included Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, Demi Lavato, Luke Bryan, and more. Many of the viewers in New York started filling the streets around eight o’clock and waited for sixteen hours without using the restroom, and some with no food or water. As it got closer to midnight the countdown begin as the mayor pressed the button and the ball descended. 5…4…3…2…1 Happy New Year! The ball shining with a rainbow of colors dazzled everyone viewing and started the new year right. The ball is made out of Waterford crystal and weighs about 11,875.
