Shadows Into Light Chapter Three

Chapter Three – The Oncoming Storm

Once again, it was another relaxed day for the heroes. Spark and Pacifica were playing ping pong, and the others were watching TV. That was about to change VERY soon. They sat, watching The Voice reruns, when suddenly the screen changed to breaking news. Seeing the image on the screen made them all groan. All of the villains were rampaging the city. So much for their DAY OFF!

Dashing through the streets at the speed of sound, Spark rushed around, searching for a fight. Looking ahead, his eyes widened. Skidding to a halt, he just barely missed falling into a large chasm in the road. “I was wondering when one of you would show up!” a loud female voice called. Jumping high into the air, said female dropped to the ground ferociously, landing directly in front of the speedy hero. “You’re gonna wish you didn’t come here. Just remember that Sila beat you down!” A smirk sprouted on his face. Taking battle position, he yelled, “Alright. Let’s dance!”

The battle began with a bang as Sila struck out at Spark. Thinking fast, he quickly dodged out of the way, zipping around the large dent in the street. He began to make full revolutions around the crater. Each time he came around, he attacked the confused, stationary figure. This worked for sometime, but after a while, Sila picked up. As Spark came around for his next attack, she left her fist out and he ran straight into the obstruction. Quick to recoil, he got to his feet. “What are you going to do now, hero?” Sila mocked. Narrowing his eyes, he tried to think. How was he going to stop her?

Sila wasn’t going to let him strategize. Quicker than many people thought was possible, she rushed towards him,  body slamming him with the force of a semi truck. Spark was sent flying from the blow and crashed into a building. Falling to the floor, he struggled to his feet. Finally, he thought of something.

“Come and get me!” he yelled, running to the center of the hole in the ground. Growling ferally, Sila took the bait and followed down, landing straight in the middle. Smirking, Spark commenced his plan. He began running at supersonic speeds around her, not striking any blows. Enraged by his “repetition” of ideas, Sila tried to attack. He was too fast though, and continued to dodge with ease. A strong gust began to whip up around the two. This wind continued to grow and grow until it became strong enough to rip any normal person off the ground. Sila struggled to keep traction, as she was unable to exit the center of the growing storm. Done with his work, Spark jumped into the air. At the top, he slammed down straight on top of the villain. Whirlwind subsiding, Spark grabbed the hands of the fallen girl. He pulled out handcuffs and clicked them into place. One down, six to go.
