Black Beauty by Anna Sewell is a wonderful classic. The story is of Black Beauty, a horse who tells his life story. His early life was relatively easy. However, throughout the years he changes ownership, with some owners being kind to him and others making him suffer. This book, having been written in the time of using horses, helped promote animal welfare by showing how some horses were treated. Writing from the horse’s perspective was unique, and makes Black Beauty the charming classic it is.
